This actually raises a valid point I’ve been thinking about lately. When did we all stop answering this question with interesting, character revealing answers like coloring, climbing trees, reading a book every other day, building forts, or whatever else our favorite activity was as a child, and start answering with our jobs?? We all still have awesome hobbies that we regularly engage in, so why don’t we answer with those instead of the mundane “I’m a waiter” or “I’m an accountant”? Think of how much more interesting it would be if we continued answering this question with “I rock climb” or “I love to cook” or “I still color all the time”.
Seven year old me is kind of ashamed in twenty three year old me for answering this question with my job. There’s so much more to life than the mundane. Let’s try and remember this.
This.
